This one is Owl de los Muertos.  The concept for this guy started at work when my co-worker and I were discussing her new tattoo.  She said she was getting an owl and that it was for her mother.  This led into the fact that in many cultures owls have meanings.  I found out ancient Central Americans believed that the owl was a symbol of death and decided it would be cool to create a barn owl with Dia de los Muertos-esque makeup.  He turned out quite nice and I'm really enjoying this graphic style.  I would also like to include more Dia de los Muertos in my work.  This piece was made in Photoshop CS5 using the pen tool and is completely vector.
I just don't know what compels me to illustrate bad jokes.  So this one is my fault though cause of a typo I typed flash instead of flask and of course with my friends it ended up being The Flashing Flask.  Not sure what he is flashing you with, but it is still a good bit of fun.  He was made in Photoshop CS5 with the pen tool making him completely vector.
So as someone who lives in San Francisco I see a lot of bikes daily.  I enjoy riding in the city and have done everything from the valleys to climbing the steepest hill I can find.  The one thing I can't understand though is the use of fixie bikes in SF.  So on a play off words for fixing animals I made this piece showing a rear gear assembly for a bicycle.  The piece is 100% vector and was created in Photoshop CS5 with heavy reference.
So you know that bad joke you still laugh at for some reason...well this is that.  A friend said this was one of her best jokes and I just felt it needed to be a t-shirt, and here we are.  The design was done using Photoshop CS5 and is completely vector.
As an animator I just absolutely love classic cartoons and the techniques that created them.  After graduating from the Academy of Art University with my degree in 3D Animation I created this as preliminary of a tattoo I planned to get.  This would be my first tattoo and I feel represent myself very well.  The image was created using the pen tool in Photoshop CS5 and is completely vector.
Now more serious with my work on the drip girls I attempted to really push myself adding in shading and attempting to get that classic pin-up look.  I have to thank Liz Mayborne for helping me concept this idea over a conversation.  It turned out better than I could have hoped. It is titled "A Sundae with Cherry".  This work was made in Photoshop CS5.  I used a pen tool along with the brush tool to create my outlines which are raster.  All coloring is done with vector shapes using the pen tool.
I think this is the point where I went from viewing this as something I just enjoyed to something serious.  Not only did I add slight skin tone changes.  I also used lots of reference.  This is still one of my favorite drip girls. It is titled "Peace of You".  This was made using Photoshop CS5 and the brush tool.  It is a completely raster image.
Again I wanted to push how I added in the drips to this piece.  So using the inspiration of street art as the drips themselves I ended up showing the personal thoughts of the subject if only in a broad way.  I still want to come back to this piece and work on my color choices.  The piece was made with Photoshop CS5 with the brush and pen tool.  It is a mixture of raster and vector as well as some effective use of layer options.
So thinking about the environment as drips I started to also think of the elements themselves in this case water or rain.  With a little musing from my friend Alix this piece really ended up being nice.  I really miss standing out in the rain.  This piece was made in Photoshop CS5 with the brush tool and is completely vector.
With more input from my friends and some experimentation I created this second Drip Girl.  I decided I couldn't limit myself to just making the girls drip, but would also like to include the environment. At this point I started naming my work.  This is End of the Day.  It was created in Photoshop CS5 with the brush tool and is completely raster.
While living in San Francisco I am exposed to lots of different kinds of art.  One of the more predominant of these is street art which has influenced me greatly.  During the time when I was making the different pieces for my friends I started doing pin-up versions of women involving paint drips.  In this one the first of a series she is literally made of paint.  This was made in Photoshop CS5 with the brush tool and is completely raster.
This is the last made friend drawing that I have done.  It is of the amazing Liz Mayborne.  It doesn't make much sense unless you hang around in our group of friends, but it was a lot of fun to do.  The image is completely made with the pen tool in Photoshop CS5 and is therefore completely vector.
So I went a little crazy with his one and had a lot of fun doing it.  This is a Pin-up version of my friend Lana who is quite an amazing person.  She is of course Canadian and this piece started as a joke on Canadian Day in a bar.  It ended up being a silly piece.  It was created in Photoshop CS 5 Using the brush tool and is completely raster.
So I started having a lot of fun at this point with my friends portraits.  This of my friend Eivind Andvig who is a dedicated  3D animator.  This poster is a bit of fun towards his love of beer and his love of politics.  This piece was done Photoshop CS5 using the pen tool.  This means the entire image is vector.
So eventually I started getting request to do specific art for my friends.  This one is for Tamara Huynh who is a 3D Modeler.  I decided to portray her in a tank firing pigs cause of the fact that she is constantly throwing plush pigs at her friends and roommates.  This piece was done in Photoshop CS 5 with the brush tool and is completely raster.
So after doing the first portrait of my friend Alix I started illustrating cartoon versions of my friends.  This one is of Isabella Renata who is an amazing animator.  She also has a huge affection for unicorns.  This piece was created using Photoshop CS5 with the brush tool and is complete raster.
So I'm starting this blog to show off my work. A lot of my friends have been on me to show it off more so here I go.  We will start with this piece since it is part of my more recent bodies of work.  I completed this work about a year and half ago.  The painting is completely raster except for the cancer symbols in the background that are done with vector.  It was created in Photoshop CS 5.
